Creative Kids K-3rd
Bring your creativity and imagination and became an artist in this fun class! Students will be working on projects using egg cartons. We’ll be also using ‘upcycled' materials, pipe cleaners, glitter, felt, and paint to create our very own creations. Egg cartons donations are very welcome.
Early Release Advanced Rocketry 3rd-5th
Advance your rocketry skills with supervised instruction in model building, including the use of wood glue, (non-toxic) plastic cement, scissors, hobby knives, knot tying, spray paint, and decals. You'll build 2 model rocket kits and fly them up to 8 times. You'll also receive your own launch pad and controller, a field box to hold your equipment, and the knowledge of how to safely build, paint, and fly model rockets! Prior experience in Introductory Rocketry class recommended.
Early Release Capoeira K-3rd
Cool, flowing Capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art/dance form, improves physical and mental strength and flexibility, encourages creativity, while increasing agility and confidence. Anne Pollack is the only master-level teacher of Afro-Brazilian arts & Capoeira in the state of Arizona. Instructor Aidan Miller-Wells has trained capoeira for over 12 years.
Early Release Chess K-5th **Ends at 2:35PM**
No prior experience is needed. Chess has been proven to enhance academic achievement and is a skill that will last a lifetime. Instructor, Ken Larsen, is a competitive chess player and instructor.
Early Release Crazy Critters K-5th
Get up close with animals and learn all about a new group of animals this quarter when Tucson Petting Zoo brings tortoises, rabbits, birds, bugs, and much more. Take part in crafts and activities related to learning about these fascinating creatures!
Early Release Kidz Art K-5th
A KidzArt certified instructor that will guide students through a different project each week. Students will learn how to break projects into simple steps, art terms and vocabulary, as well as experience and learn techniques for varying drawing mediums. Each week students will bring home a different masterpiece all their own. Our curriculum never repeats!
Early Release PlayWell K-5th
Level up your engineering skills with Play-Well. TEKnologies and tens of thousand of LEGO parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as: Castles, Airplanes, and Scissor Lifts. Design and build as never before and explore your crazies ideas.
Early Release TGA Tennis 2nd-5th
Serve it up with tennis class and discover how fun and exciting tennis can be with TGA! Coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of grip, forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. Students participate in STEAM labs that allow them to explore academic concepts like gravity, force, and spin through the game.
Girls on the Run 3rd-5th *Late Start, January 21st to April 25th** 1:30-3PM**
1:30-3 PM Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3-4:30PM!! Girls on the Run (GOTR), is a national non-profit school based program that encourages 3rd-5th grade girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running. The program combines training for a 3.1 mile running event with a small group discussions and fun, interactive physical activities. Space is limited.
Monday Ninja Warrior Camp K-3rd
Get ready for a challenge! This new class will give participants an opportunity to have fun testing their skills and abilities while going through various obstacles: Tunnel crawls, Cone weaves, Noodle crawls, Mat Rolls, Parachute runs and much more. Different course will be set up every day. Who will be Ninja Warrior of the day?
Monday Yoga for Kids 2nd-5th
Being playful and silly is a great gateway to introducing yoga to kids. Kids will have space for self expression, as well as connections to mindfulness and breathing techniques. They will focus on improving coordination, creating strength and increase flexibility all the while respecting their bodies, themselves and others. Taught by Ms. Lankes
Steel Drums 5th Grade
WEDNESDAYS at Canyon View This group is open to any 5th grade student with little or no experience playing steel drums. Students will learn to read and perform music on steel drums and the culture surrounding steel drum music. Students will be expected to regularly attend rehearsals, scheduled performances and help move equipment when necessary. Class meets at Canyon View Elementary, must have your own transportation.
Thursday Beat Drop Kidz K-5th
Beat Drop Kidz After School Program is a Hip Hop Dance Program that brings the fun of Hip Hop Dance directly into the schools! We teach Hip Hop in a Kid-Friendly & FUN way while teaching the “Code of Hip Hop” of “Peace, Unity, Love & Having Fun”. Students will learn several moves from various Urban Dance styles such as Popping, Break Dancing, Locking & More.
Thursday Intramural Track 3rd-5th
Learn the skills and techniques to master this field favorite and fulfill your enthusiasm for physical fitness and sportsmanship with. Build team spirit and camaraderie with your teammates. Compete against other CFSD elementary school teams in a District-Wide event. Participants will receive a team shirt. Taught by Coach Freedom.
Thursday Yoyos 2nd-5th
NO CLASS ON JANUARY 23rd Come and learn hand eye coordination with Build a Skill Yoyo! Students will build their own yo-yos, learn tricks and more. Instructor Jess Gracia has been teaching yoyo skills to large groups of students for over 15+ years. Students will be taking home two different yo-yos in this class.
Wednesday DIY Beaded Jewelry 1st-5th
Learn how to create and design your own handmade beaded jewelry. We will use nylon-coated beading wire, beading elastic, wire, and waxed linen to create necklaces, bracelets, anklets, and hair accessories.
Unwanted and inexpensive jewelry is welcome for donations.
